Privacy Policy

Effective October 29, 2026

Hitherto ("the app", "we") is a private prayer list. What you pray about, and for whom, is yours alone.

What we collect

No personal data. The app has no accounts, no advertising and no servers of its own. We never see your prayers, the names you add or anything else you write.

Anonymous usage statistics. To learn whether the app helps people, it sends a small set of anonymous events through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider: onboarding started or completed, a prayer added, a praying session finished (with a rough count of prayers), and a prayer marked answered. Events use a random identifier that TelemetryDeck hashes and that is not linked to your identity; IP addresses are not stored. They never include names, prayers, answers or anything you type. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Share anonymous usage stats.

Where your prayers are stored

On your iPhone. If iCloud is on for the app, Apple keeps a copy in your private iCloud database, which only you can access; names, prayers and answer notes are encrypted by Apple before they leave your device.

Widget and reminders

The widget and the daily reminder are prepared on your iPhone. When Face ID lock is on, the widget shows only a count, never names. iCloud may use Apple's silent notifications to keep your devices in sync; we send no notifications ourselves.

Diagnostics

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous crash statistics. You control this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

iOS also gives the app its own crash and performance reports (Apple's MetricKit). They contain no prayers or names, are kept only on your iPhone, and reach us only if you send them from Settings › Share diagnostics.

Your choices

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone. The anonymous statistics above are not linked to any person.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
